The simple routine

After this you can run all six things as one small weekly habit.

Here is the whole course, folded into a routine you can actually keep. It is smaller than you think, because most of the six things are decisions you make once, not chores you repeat.

Set once, at the start

  • Light — put the plant in a spot you audited that matches its needs
  • Soil & pots — start it in an airy, free-draining mix in a pot with a drainage hole (no gravel)

Every week (the walk, ten minutes)

  • Look at every plant and turn a few leaves over
  • Do the finger check and water only the ones that are actually dry — then empty the saucer
  • Write one line per plant in the log

In season, occasionally

  • Food — feed at half strength during active growth; stop in winter
  • Flush the pots with plain water every couple of months to keep salts down
