Logging what you see
After this you can keep a simple record that turns one-off looks into a track record.
A walk you do not record is a walk you forget. The point of a log is not bureaucracy — it is memory. A one-line note per plant per week tells you things a single glance never can: this one has been slowly yellowing for a month, that one has not put out new growth since october, this pot has needed water every five days like clockwork. Patterns only show up over time, and only if you wrote them down.
The weekly walk log below is a simple spreadsheet — one row per check, columns for the date, the plant, what you noticed, and what you did. It opens in excel, numbers or google sheets. Keep it wherever you will actually fill it in. the honest truth is that the log is more powerful than any single piece of plant-care knowledge, because it turns you from someone who reacts into someone who notices.
